I also was born in Houston, Texas, but 13 ½ years after Brad, in 1974. We moved to Beaumont when I was four. I trusted Jesus with my life when I was seven years old. When I was about 16, I felt the Lord tugging me towards missions. At the time, I thought the only way He could use me on the mission field was if I was a doctor or a teacher. I did not want to be either, so I thought there was no way He could use me. I graduated from West Brook High School in 1992. I then attended Texas A&M University (class of ’96) and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Russian Language in December 1995. After receiving my diploma, I joined The Navigators (a non-denominational para-church ministry) and served as a missionary in Far East Russia for 11 months. Upon my return to the States, I continued my service with The Navs as a missionary to college students at Cal State University Long Beach. During those few years, the Lord really drew me close to His heart and I learned that one of my greatest desires was to be a wife and a mommy and to serve Him in that capacity overseas. God changed me drastically in those years and matured me greatly. Now I’m living my life-long dream and it’s pretty tough, but also amazing.
